Goodbye to 2010
Thank God it's over! This was not our best year. I'm looking forward to 2011, hopefully it will be a better year. I thought I'd recount it, but it was too difficult.

Winter Texans
Sea Isle is starting to fill up with all our friends from MN, Iowa and WI. Carol and Laird showed up this afternoon. It's great seeing everyone again. The weather is getting nice again, supposed to be in the 80's the next few days. I've been line-dancing several times. Howard has been practicing his golf, but his team mates haven't arrived yet. Last night we went to music. Jacquie is having a New Years Eve party (of course it will be early). We must have walked about 6 miles today. It sure is nice being warm.

Christmas Project
You won't believe how difficult this project was. I kept going back to the quilt shop to buy more material, because of making wrong cuts.
Tree is up and a few decorations, cards are ready to be stamped. No Christmas letter this year, because our year was all medical issues and no one cares to hear about old peoples medical problems.
It's time to look at using up food and packing up for Texas. Talked to the sisters and they said it was in the 70's. It will be nice to walk on the beach without boots, down coat, mittens, earmuffs, scarfs and snowpants.

Voted!
We did our civic duty this morning before we went to Chippewa Falls for another eye doctor appointment. We were #134 & #135. I'm so tired of the nasty ads and robo phone calls. Do you think Rudi will call after the election?
Can you believe Jen's travel bug is in Florida! That's the long way to Winter.
I got the material today to finish my quilt and the one piece I needed to make the Christmas tree skirt. The quilts for church have been taking up too much of my time.

Family Weekend
We went south this weekend for a football game and 2 soccer games. We visited sisters, daughters and cousins. We put a lot in 2 days and even got a little shopping in.
Kyle played at Stevens Point, it was there homecoming game. He did all the kicking and also played in the line and special teams. It was a terrific game and they won. Last night was the Homecoming dance. Cole was home for the weekend, so we got to see him, he looks like he's handling the college thing well.
Saturday morning we watched Clayton's soccer game in Point and Beth's soccer game in the Rapids.
We stopped in to see Doris and Ken on Friday and Shirley and Jerry on Saturday.
We got home in time to see the kickoff of the Wisconsin game.

Sue, Jerry, Stan and Anola came for a visit today. Sue brought home-made pizza and a cherry pie. Anola brought canned good. What good company.

Babysitting
My friend Pat is always rescuing injured animals. This is a hummingbird that she found that couldn't fly. Pat has to be out of town the rest of the week, so I get to take care of it. She has kept it alive for a week, it's getting stronger, but it's time for it to fly south. I just hope it lasts until Sunday, so it doesn't die on my watch.

Two Miles
I made my 2 mile walk yesterday for the first time in nearly 3 months. It went really good. I still need about 20 degrees in motion yet, but it seems to be coming. I can climb upstairs, not downstairs and put my foot on the floor when I am sitting. Yesterday I took the paddleboat out in the lake, always before I was tied to the dock for my paddleing. It's been a quiet summer, it's all about recovery and therapy. Hopefully I am near the end.
What happened to my garden? With all this warm wet weather, I thought I'd have alot of tomatoes, but not so. They are few and ripening small. My zucchini was a total bust. The cucumbers are growing well, so that means I need to can some pickels today. The raspberries were scarce and I only got one batch of jam. The blackberries aren't ripe yet, which is late.

22 Degrees
I started physical therapy this week, My knee started at 60 degrees bend and have through Josh's torture reached 82 degrees. I need to reach 120 degrees. It seems like my life has been taken over by my rehab excercises. I did water aerobics in Hayward yesterday, the pool makes everything a little easier, it's just I have to expose my leg to everyone. We launched the paddle boat yesterday, because that paddling motion is what I need. I'm still tied up to the dock, because I'm not ready to head out into the lake by myself yet. I'm going to be ready to walk the beaches and line-dance by this winter.

FREEDOM
I have been really remiss on keeping my blog up this last month, but then you have to realize that my world has been really small.
Today I had the 54 (ouch!) staples removed and was told everything looked really good. I'm off all medications. I just now can start working my knee to get it bending the way it should. I'm looking forward to going for walks again.
Yesterday we went for the farewell pot luck for our priests. It was so nice just talking to people. I'm looking forward to the 4th of July and hope I will be able to ride on the Beach Babes float. Pictures to follow.
Thanks to my sweetheart for all the wonderful care.

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all the son-in-laws for being terrific Father's to my Grandchildren. A special Father's Day wish to the Father of my daughters, because this will probably all you get today. It seems to be all about me lately. I'm hoping at least to get to Cole's party today so that you can see your daughters. Sorry you missed your Canada trip, maybe next year.

Boring
I'm tired of this being laid up. There are so many things I want to do. I can't watch my garden grow. My roses are starting to bloom, my hosas and lilies need to be seen. I can hear them calling. The weather isn't really that nice, otherwise I'd try sitting outside. The Big H at least can go outside and do somethings.
I have been watching the food channel alot. I'd like to have a share of the cost of all the butter Paula Deen buys. Today her grandson's stomach was growling, so she fed him rice krispie treats with chocolate topping and sprinkles, Maybe he needed lunch.
Happy Birthday Bill!! See you next week (hopefully).

Status Upgrade
We went to Marshfield today and had the drainage tubes removed. He took all the dressing off, so this ugly gash is open for everyone to see. I don't even want to look at it. He also took the full brace off, so that means I will need to use it now. On the upside there isn't alot of discomfort. The Big H will be glad to get back his life again. At this stage in I'm really happy how well things are going. Thank God for good Doctors.

Back Home
I made it home about 6:30p.m last night, now I just have to heal up that ugly scar. Everything went well. I have good care and am somewhat mobile. I will back in good form in a couple of weeks.

Spring
I love spring, the robins are here, the lake is open, we have nightcrawlers for fishing. The skys have been bright blue, although its been really windy.
I painted my upstairs bedroom this week, have been doing some spring cleaning. The church rummage sale is next week, so I need to go through some closets and drawers. I have so much "stuff", I don't use, but just can't get rid of. A good rule I should follow is "one in - one out".
My busy schedule has started, lots to do. The Winter Garden club put on a style show and luncheon yesterday, that was really nice, I even won a tea pot in the raffle. Today is First Communion at church, Janet and I are in charge, that means I have to go in early for setup and stay late for cleanup.
The Big H is golfing every chance he gets. He's been in his shop building a bookcase for the church.
The Bare Root sale is this week at the greenhouse. I don't need anything, but I'll probably go and buy something anyway. Our new experiment this year is going to be potatoes.

Back Again
We arrived Saturday afternoon to Winter. We spent overnight and Saturday morning at Debby's. Terry's family came and we had a wonderful brunch, how can you go wrong with kringles and cinnamon french toast bake.
The lake is open and the Big H is putting in the dock and boat lift.
I forgot to have the telephone put back in service, so we are dealing with being offline until tomorrow. Thanks to the local library I got to see if Jen survived the earthquake. Grandpa will love the golf shots. I know he is rushing getting everything done so he can get on the course.
I have everything unpacked and am raking my gardens, crocuses are blooming and daffodils are budded.
Now I need to go to the post office to pick up our mail.

Why You Don't Jump Out of a Perfectly Good Airplane
Last week the sisters and I walked down the beach to observe the spring-breakers. While we were walking about 12 beautiful parachutes appeared out of the sky and landed right in front of us. We walked up to one young man and asked him what was happening. He spoke with a heavy accent and told us they were here for the next 10 days doing jumps. It sounded like fun and we discussed how we would enjoy doing that. Thursday, we think this same jumper, landed on a condo roof by the beach and died.
