Just a Pinging Away

I've made 3 batches of raspberry jam. It was alot easier this year thanks to cousin-in-law Jerry who found me a juicer-strainer at an auction. I sold mine at a rummage sale before we moved, thinking I was never going to do this again. We just couldn't resist all the wild berries, and the big H loves picking them. I tryed getting another strainer last year on E-Bay, but they were selling for over $100. I think this is enough until the blackberries come. I was told in case of a natural disaster, we could live in the basement and survive a couple of years on jam. Another great find was the fruit pectin I bought from the Amish last year, it was cheap and works great.

Stan's Birthday

We spent the afternoon at Stanley's, it was his 71st birthday. A former exchange student from Costa Rica came to visit him for 2 weeks with his deaf wife and 3 kids. All of Stan and Anola's kids were home. We haven't seen them all together for along time. I got to meet Sherri, Curt's wife and her son. On more difficult news, Shirley is back on chemo. I talked to Christina and she said Vanessa has a tumor on her ear drum. She said she cried alot and thought, we can't go through this again, but the tumor is benign. It will have to be removed and a new eardrum will have to be made, but it could leave her deaf on that side. She isn't putting in 4 year old kindergarden, because the operation will have to be done this fall. We got home later than we planned, but didn't hit any deer.

Tom Sawyer

Clay found a bobber and hook on a line down by the boat landing. He attached it to a stick and went fishing. It doesn't take expensive equipment to catch fish.

Tiger jr.

Yesterday Dan and Nancy stopped in to visit with us. It was nice seeing them. Bob and Evelyn Kuel came with them. She was married to Donavan Van Dreel, who used to be a neighbor in Kellner years ago.
Clay and Grandpa went golfing this afternoon. When they were done, Clay said "can we do this again tomorrow." Grandpa said he shot of drive of 110 yards. They played 10 holes.

Everyone Works

We went down to help Deb paint her house, even the kids painted for awhile. They thought it was really fun. The other 3 really worked hard and were exhausted. The Big H stayed to help this morning while Tim went to work, but they ran out of paint and couldn't get anymore for a few days. Things are starting to come together nicely. Clay came back with us to stay for awhile.
